Collection: Establishing the Post-War International Order, 1944–1961    Volumes    Documents relating to security & defence, inc. Ministry of Defence, North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), & United Nations Security Council (UNSC), 1944-1961

The post-war international order came to be defined by the Cold War. This volume contains records from three British government departments—the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Defence, and Foreign Office—and two international bodies—the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and United Nations Security Council (UNSC)—that shed light on the military dimensions of this divide.

The records, which cover the period 1944–1961, include materials on the Korean War, NATO’s nuclear strategy, and arms control, as well as American, Chinese, and Soviet representations to the UNSC.
