Collection: Military Intelligence Files: Land, Sea & Air, 1938–1974    Volumes    British Commanders'-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany (BRIXMIS): Foreign Office papers, 1946-1966

The British Commanders'-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany (BRIXMIS) was a liaison initiative established in 1946. Although ostensibly a diplomatic endeavour, BRIXMIS presented an ideal opportunity for intelligence gathering behind the Iron Curtain, and was exploited as such. This volume includes dispatches to the Foreign Office. These dispatches are primarily concerned with political, diplomatic, and economic matters.
