Collection: Colonial Law in Africa, 1808–1919 Volumes Zimbabwe (Southern Rhodesia), 1894–1919
This volume consists of gazettes published in Zimbabwe between the years 1894 and 1919. The first of these gazettes was published in October 1894, 29 years before the first Blue Book of statistics for Zimbabwe. This particular gazette includes scattered references to colonial officers. Early gazettes include government notices, alongside legal and survey notices. Later editions include information regarding customs tariffs and business deals, alongside legal notices. These records cover Queen Victoria giving Matabeleland and Mashonaland to the British South Africa Company in 1894. The Witchcraft Regulations of 1895 and laws relating to the First World War also feature.
