Nigeria (Lagos), 1887–1919
Collection: Colonial Law in Africa, 1808–1919 Volumes Nigeria (Lagos), 1887–1919
This volume consists of gazettes published in Nigeria from 1887–1919. The first gazette for Nigeria was published following the royal jubilee in 1887. The gazette's name changed as the colony grew. For example, earlier editions referred to the “Colony of Lagos”. These official publications contain a wealth of information, such as the names of officers, High Court judgments, details of legislation enacted, and ordinances. There are also shipping arrival/departure records. Some hospital records are also present. This document also includes a reprint of the Abeokuta Treaty of May 1908. This was negotiated between the governor and the Egba Kingdom.

- Try a different combination of terms and queries to try and match your result.
- Use 'themes' or 'subjects' directly in your search query, e.g. "19th century colonial administration Africa" - 'Africa' being the broad subject.
- Try using the advanced search facility.
