The focus of the pamphlets published in 1769 is upon the increasingly fragile relationship between Britain and North America. 1770 saw the publication of a series of pamphlets with regard to the Boston Massacre. This massacre happened at a time of pre-existing tensions between the town of Boston and its Commissioners of Customs which initially rose to the fore in 1769 if not before. A pamphlet appealing the accusations made against Boston regarding its relationship with its commissioners is included here: "Boston, An Appeal to the World: Or a Vindication of The Town of Boston...". The Boston Massacre and the printing of pamphlets relating to it occurred the following year; those pamphlets are also included here. Following the Massacre, Francis Maseres then published a pamphlet titled "Considerations on The Expediency of Admitting Representatives from the American Colonies into the British House of Commons". Meanwhile, Thomas Pownall authored an item discussing his "...endeavour to move this house, to come to resolutions, as a ground for taking off the duties, payable in America".
