Commerce, 1899-1980
Collection: Zimbabwe Under Colonial Rule, in Government Reports, 1897–1980 Volumes Commerce, 1899-1980
This volume includes a range of government reports related to trade and commerce in Southern Rhodesia dated between 1899 to 1980. The reports on customs and excise are bulky, detailed documents from 1906-31; before and after these dates they are brief and cursory. They were issued by the Federal Government from 1954-1962/63. The 1933 report on commerce was with regard to Commerce and Transport, those that followed from 1944/45-1947 and 1961-1963 were upon the subjects of Commerce and Industry. The Industrial Development Advisory Committee (1940-1945) led to the establishment of the Industrial Development Commission (1945-1949), this would then be superseded by the Industrial Development Board (1959-1962). The reports on industrial development, commerce, and customs ceased being produced in the years leading to the Unilateral Declaration of Independence. Customs and excise reports ceased being printed after 1965, Commerce and Industry after 1964, and Industrial Development after 1963; some isolated reports were printed in the 1970s.
