Judicial and Police, 1897-1979
Collection: Zimbabwe Under Colonial Rule, in Government Reports, 1897–1980 Volumes Judicial and Police, 1897-1979
This volume includes a range of government reports related to the police and crime in Southern Rhodesia and are dated between 1897 to 1979. The Law Department became the Department of Justice in 1933. The justice reports also include Internal Affairs (1954-1961), Law and Order (1962), and Housing (1954-1956). The reports of the Registrar of Deeds, Companies and Patents; the Master, Registrar and Sheriff of the High Court; and the Solicitor General would be encompassed within the reports of the Law Department from 1907-1932. Publication of the justice reports and the law and order reports ceased in 1972, as the guerrilla war was intensifying. Other reports include those on policing (1897-1980) and defence. Defence was the responsibility of the Southern Rhodesia volunteers prior to 1914 and is classified as defence thereafter.

- Try a different combination of terms and queries to try and match your result.
- Use 'themes' or 'subjects' directly in your search query, e.g. "19th century colonial administration Africa" - 'Africa' being the broad subject.
