Documents, Papers & Memoranda on the Growth of the Pan-African Movement since 1952
Collection: Reporting on Africa: From Apartheid to Pan-Africanism, 1949–1995 Volumes Documents, Papers & Memoranda on the Growth of the Pan-African Movement since 1952
A wealth of newspaper cuttings, extracts from journals, pamphlets and typescript material on Pan-African leaders and personalities; Pan-African themes; political and economic issues relating to Pan-Africanism, conferences and summits. The most prominent theme of these records is that of the Addis Ababa Conference of Heads of State in May 1963; this conference brought together Heads of African States who had just been freed from colonial rule and sought to establish the identity of their continent in a manner previously inhibited by colonial rule. The result of the Addis Ababa Conference was the Addis Ababa Charter of The Organisation of African Unity. Following these papers are records of subsequent conferences on a variety of socio-economic issues affecting the continent.

- Try a different combination of terms and queries to try and match your result.
- Use 'themes' or 'subjects' directly in your search query, e.g. "19th century colonial administration Africa" - 'Africa' being the broad subject.
- Try using the advanced search facility.
- Use a broader search and use the filters on the left-hand side to refine your results.
