Fascism, 1934-1945

Collection: Life under Nazi Rule: Reports by Anti-Fascists in Occupied Europe, 1933–1945    Volumes    Fascism, 1934-1945
Described as "Reports and information about the position of the workers under fascist dictatorship", according to the subtitle of an issue from 1935. Although no volume numbers are assigned for the first two years, it is clear from the first volume number (i.e. vol. IV), which appears early in 1936, that Germany under the Swastika for 1933/4 was considered Vol. I, with the editions of Fascism issued between 1934 and 1935, equating to vol. II-III, being a natural continuation. From vol. VII, no. 21 (31 October 1939), six months before the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940, production of Fascism moved from Amsterdam to Kempston in Bedfordshire. Although this collection reproduces only the English edition, with the exception of the German index to the second half of 1939, Fascism appeared in a number of other European languages, principally German and Spanish, and occasionally Dutch, French and Swedish, as well as Esperanto in an abridged form.
