Collection: Communism and Popular Culture in the 20th Century Volumes Material relating to Germany, World War Two, and post-war politics in Europe (i), 1936-1965
Material largely related to Montagu's time as a correspondent of the Daily Worker, writing about post-war Germany and other political issues in Europe. Visceral in his anti-Nazi attitude, Montagu was sometimes restrained in his militancy by both the legal system, as seen through the Duke of Hamilton's libel action, as well as his own party, who held fluctuating views on the Nazis at the start of the war. The volume also features items on Montagu's own call up to the armed forces and subsequent cancellation. Finally, the volume features discussions and publications of cultural politics in the post-war period.

Whilst we try our best to extract as much usable and searchable as possible, our primary resource collections have varying levels of available metadata and searchable OCR'd text depending on the nature of the document; please bear this in mind when searching, especially when looking for older resources. We recommend trying the following:
- Try a different combination of terms and queries to try and match your result.
- Use 'themes' or 'subjects' directly in your search query, e.g. "19th century colonial administration Africa" - 'Africa' being the broad subject.
- Try using the advanced search facility.
