Collection: Communism and Popular Culture in the 20th Century Volumes Varied correspondence with communist colleagues, politicians, and playwrights, 1924-1983
These records include correspondence regarding both potential and actual publications by Montagu, Dobb, Ehrenburg and other authors of Communist Works. More political items are also included here: the debate between Montagu and Dutt on whether Britain should go to war with Germany, the Israel-Palestine question, the pre-war indictment of the German Communist Party Leader by the Nazi Government and the post war congress for peace, add to the overall picture of debates surrounding World War Two. Papers relating to Montagu's potential candidacy for the Hammersmith Constituency in 1951 and translations of 100 Chinese Peace Poems, are located alongside a book on the subject of teaching singing in one of the more eclectic mixes within this collection.

We recommend trying the following:
- Try a different combination of terms and queries to try and match your result.
- Use 'themes' or 'subjects' directly in your search query, e.g. "19th century colonial administration Africa" - 'Africa' being the broad subject.
- Try using the advanced search facility.
