This volume contains materials relating to democracy and government, published by the Ministry of Information (MOI) and the Central Office of Information (COI) during the period 1936-1999. While most items date from the Second World War and Cold War, a small number were issued on behalf of the Monarchy in the 1930s.
A wide range of subjects are covered, from local authorities and elections to trade unions and international institutions. Included are documents produced by and/or for the British Council, the British Information Services, the Civil Service Department, the Colonial Office, the Commonwealth Office, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Education and Science, the Department of Health, the Home Office, the Ministry of Housing, the Department of Industry, the Ministry of Labour, the Monarchy of the United Kingdom, the Northern Ireland Office Information Service, HM Stationery Office, the Department of Transport, HM Treasury, and the United Nations.
